She is grateful for the life and purpose that God has given her. Dr. Nekita has served inside and outside the four walls and on prayer calls—leading worship or ministering The Word of God.

Love Thy Neighbor
Providing meals and/or snacks to school students became a focus once made aware of the children who had no lunch money or nutrition for after-school activities. She committed and provided food for 3 years. There are so many children who are hungry from lack of food or not enough. How can you help?
Dr. Nekita thought about her neighbors and they began to receive these boxes of love filled with food. If there was a family with children, they would receive more. Sharing Is Caring.

The Spoken
THE BEGINNING
The Call was undeniable in high school as she invited classmates to Bible study and Sunday service. Dr. Nekita began having Bible discussions and prayer with her friends at school. She even had a phone ministry— praying and ministering at night and sometimes throughout the morning before school.
BELOVED HOMELESS
James 2:15-17
Favored with a heart for the Homeless and those in need from her teenage years, she has served cheerfully for 33 years. There is so much to do in this community. Nekita encourages everyone to do what they can. For their dignity and respect, you will never see photos of them receiving meals, a drink or any assistance.
ABBA ~ TRANSFORMED LIVES
Ephesians 6:4 and Psalm 137:3
At the age of 18, she began a teen & young adult praise and worship team. It was then they learned and experienced ABBA, and they grew in their gifts.
Hebrews 10:23-24
Studying The Word and worshipping became a lifestyle for them. It was during this ministry that The Anointing was evident on their life. These teammates would later become her first high school Bible Study students in her early 20’s. They began Bible Studies and prayer groups in their high schools.
Dr. Nekita has always loved and taught children of all ages. Teaching her own children at home was life. A few years later she began teaching 6-9 year-old girls. Even at their young age, the Pastor asked these young girls to lead worship on Wednesday nights. How Amazing?!
PRAYER AND WORSHIP
The women began having prayer and worship meetings. Every woman leading in prayer or in song. They grew in faith, The Word and in service.
SEED IN THE GROUND
All of them are now adults and still serve in ministry.

THE POWER OF LOVE
Nekita contemplated suicide at the age of 16-years-old after abuse from a young child, throughout her teen years to age 23. It was the final straw of being hit in the face that she decided to look for a shelter for her and her children.
Abuse is exhausting. It weighs you down. Trying to understand abuse will drain you. Your soul wanders for rest. It can kill you.
——————
With the Love of God, studying and recalling The Word of God and her GrandMother drowning her in love— Nekita knew the Power of Love. Her GrandMother was tangible love and her friend. She was the only family truly trusted along with paternal cousins who lived with her family and cared for them while her mother worked.
No one knew except a few close friends and two adults— not church members, not schoolmates, not family. No one asked. Recently people who have known her for years, have asked her about her youth— begging to be taken to the store just to get away for a few minutes, the sadness in her eyes, or the expressions on her face. They have apologized for not knowing or helping her and asked why she never told. It would have only made it worse for her and they would not be allowed to visit anymore. They even remembered that their calls to check on us were no longer answered.
___________________________________________
Sat in the bathroom in the dark or sent to another room alone, Nekita was forbidden to speak or play with her siblings. Their mother would make the announcement that they could not talk or play with her, and she could not speak to them either. In the dark bathroom, alone and afraid, Nekita could feel the evil.
Beaten completely naked bending over with bolo paddles until they broke (sometimes up to 3 paddles or at times with five different belts (one at a time and wet) with yelling, “Oh, you’re not gonna cry!” … until she cried. Instructed to take all of her clothes off, place the palm of her hands in the bottom of the tub and turn around to face the wall was the most horrifying. Belt after belt, each wet and the last one of five leather straps held together by brass bucklets between each strap with constant yelling of “Turn around! Don’t look at me. Oh, you’re just not gonna cry?”. When it was over, Nekita laid on the floor until she could get up - crying, in pain and covered in long and short puffy welts from the different belts— and some bleeding dotted tears. She still didn’t know why this had happened until almost a week later when her GrandMother told her.
Nekita still remained respectful — never fought back, never took the belt, never ran away, never cursed or anything. She often wonder why didn’t she? When you are told, “I brought you in this world and I’ll take you out”, and they have physically hurt and even choked you until you almost pass out— you believe them. She had been knocked down on the floor after being slapped and punched in the face several times, and choked standing up. Sitting on her stomach and choking her again, the room started to spin as air got less and less.. She laid there wondering how long would it take for her to die. 16 was not a long time to live but the constant verbal and physical abuse had worn her out over the years. During the abuse, she would recite scriptures in her mind— about what The Word of God said about her. She couldn’t ask questions or even make eye contact to ask what had she done. It was a lost cause. There was no seeking of the truth— no mercy or compassion for her. In her room and alone time, she would speak The Word aloud, pray and study.
It didn’t matter all of the good that she did or even how she had been watching and caring for her younger siblings since she was 9-years-old. Sitting on her bed after an unexpected verbal assault but normal situation for her, she began thinking how she could end it. If she wasn’t wanted and didn’t want to be seen, then fine. It had all become too much— constant outbursts of rage and violence against her, blame for everything and never being able to know why or have resolve for peace or even acknowledgment or an apology when she was found innocent— she was giving up. If anyone knows her, they know that she’s never thought of being a nurse, a doctor, surgeon or anything associated with blood. Yet she sat there wondering “How? Was there a gun in the house? Where would it be?” She could cut her wrist like she saw on tv but “Were the knives sharp enough?” Either way was too much blood and made her body hurt to even think about it.
God saved her life through high school extra-curricular activities.
“What are you going to do, saw your arm off with a butter knife? You don’t have a right to take your life.” She sat there wondering, “Who said that?” Nekita had been having prophetic dreams and experiences since age 13 but this sarcastic humorous rebuke was the first. It was if someone was standing next to her. “You will not commit suicide. You are going to school and join clubs. What if you don’t die and only injury yourself? You could be crippled or can’t move and in your right mind, living with memories and guilt that you did this to yourself.”
And she did. Nekita prayed as she dressed for school the next morning. She was already in a few clubs and joined several more over the next few days. She became President of VICA and became an officer with other clubs. She was already in the marching band and played basketball (since 6th grade). Some meetings were scheduled at 7:30am so she was gone all day. Nekita had been told that she didn’t want to see her face… and they rarely did during the weekday. Weekends were for choir rehearsals, church meetings and church service. Arriving home between 10:30pm-12:30am, depending on if the games went into over-time or it was an away game— Nekita had escaped much of the abuse. She later got a job as a receptionist at a law firm on one of the side streets across the street from her high school. The money was collected towards bills because she had to pay for where she lived.
School was her lifeline. Nekita loved school and learning. She become more confident and thrived.
Before graduating high school, she signed up for the military but she was told she was going to die in the Persian Gulf War so she didn’t go. Nekita didn’t know all of the various careers in the military because she had not signed up for JROTC and did not know any military people to talk to. “Just get a job and help.” For three years, she begged for financial records to attend Georgia State and was refused. Finally after three years, a financial aid counselor called to schedule a visit. Finally! Nekita was going to college!

Loving
Nekita loves people and embraces the purpose that God has for her life to serve humanity— in the United States and International.
Nekita was afraid to even have children after so much abuse but made up her mind that she would parent differently. She used The Word of God to raise her children.
All of this early hell impacted Nekita for better. It is why she encourages and speaks into children and young people. They are valuable, brilliant and can make such a difference in the world with love and guidance.
In 2014 while praying after dressing for church, Nekita was instructed to go to The Homeless. "They feel unloved and now you know what it is like to not feel loved.” She changed her clothes and told her children what she had heard. She pulled together a meal for them while her children dressed. They all headed to feed The Homeless and tell them that they are loved.
——————
In 2019, Nekita stumbled across a secret, by mistake, while planning her 2019 family reunion with a cousin. She found her biological father, paternal siblings and entire paternal family. 47 years living without the knowledge and option to have these relationships.
Her cousin encouraged her to do AncestryDNA so that they could connect with more family. Two genealogist called Nekita to tell her about her big brother. Upon further research, she learned that no one knew. She now understood why her mother would tell her that she did not want to see her face - from childhood and throughout her teens. It was her father’s face that her mother saw. Nekita looked exactly like her paternal father. Her mother’s dark secret and sin had shaken her entire world.
No one knew the extent that her mother was willing to go to protect her image for 5 years now. From a death threat after Nekita called to ask her about the dna results to attacks on her children, husband and business to crazy messages and even things more sinister — God has been her refuge and constant friend.
Nekita has been estranged from her relatives since 2011. In December 2023 after she announced with her Outstanding Honorary Doctorate of Divinity, she received a warning of a hit on her life. This was the fourth report. Her response, “I can only say that I trust God with my life. He’s trained me from age 15 and still now. PSALM 27:10-14 - When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. To God Be The Glory!”

She felt proud of her Ancestors as she sketched the logo that would be the face of this love. What began as a gift to Elders and family at a family reunion would soon become tokens of love to others as well, and a gift idea for book signings to those who purchased her book, Strong Like Her: Women Today Finding Themselves in the Women of the Bible. The world shut down; however, requests were made to purchase these botanical wonders.

In August 2023 while traveling, Nekita was given an assignment that embraced all Women. Women of every hue, shape and tongue. As she began to sketch, she wanted every Woman to see themselves in her logo and products. Women like different styles and fashions— from hair to clothing, shoes, how they decorate their homes and choose the cars that they drive. We must have options, right? Yes! The difference in our culture, our language, skin hue and other things that we were born into or with- absolutely do not override the many similarities that make as Women.
